Belarus and Lithuania discuss an opportunity to increase transportations of Russian cargoes in a direction to the Klaipeda and Kaliningrad ports. The parties also expect and increase of transit Kazakhstan cargo transportations.

On May, 25 the current year within the framework of a bilateral meeting in a boundary check point the Stone Kameniy Log – Maydinikai Belarus and Lithuania have signed the Intergovernmental Agreement on navigation on internal waterways. Belarus party was represented by the Minister of Transport and Communications Vladimir Sosnovsky, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Martynov and the vice-president of Goskompogranvojsk Vadim Zajtsev. Lithuanian party was represented by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Petras Vajtekjunas, the deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Cheslovas Shikshnaylis.

According to the decision of the Ministry of Transport and Communications N13 dated 13.03.2007, since June, 1 and till to the end of summer in the afternoon (from 10.00 till 20.00) at air temperature higher 25 degrees movement of vehicles with loading on a single axis more than 6 tons on republican highways with asphalt and concrete covering is limited. Movement of specified motor transport is authorized at night from 22.00 till 10.00. Time restrictions do not concern transportations of th passengers, perishable cargoes, alive animal and cargoes connected with prevention or liquidation of extreme situations.
