History
On July, 28, 1939 the Supreme Soviet of the BSSR passed the law “ On organization the National Commissariat of Motor Transport of the BSSR ”. Since that every moment the history of general purpose motor transport of the republic began , its drawing up in an independent branch.
On March, 26, 1946 the National Commissariat of Motor Transport of the BSSR by the decree of the Supreme Soviet Presidium of the BSSR was transformed into the Ministry of Motor Transport of the BSSR. Since that moment and till 1988 structural transformations took place in management of general purpose motor transport.
On June, 16, 1988 by the decree of the Supreme Soviet Presidium of the BSSR “ On changes in system of state bodies of Belarusian SSR ” the Ministry of Motor Transport of the BSSR abolished and reformed into the Ministry of Transport of the BSSR, having united automobile and river transport.
On February, 5, 1993 the Supreme Soviet of Belarus accepted the decision “ On formation the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus ”.
On July, 22, 1993 the Council of Ministers of Belarus accepted the decision № 491 according to which the structure of the formed Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus the Belarusian Railway and the Belarusian Management of Civil Aviation were included. 3 departments were formed in structure of the Ministry: motor transport, civil aviation, railway transport.
From April, 4, 1995 N 126 and from April, 17, 1996 N 150 department of Civil Aviation and the Belarusian railway were deduced by decrees of the President of Belarus from the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus.
On June, 6, 1996 by the decision of the Cabinet of Belarus N 368 on the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus the Committee of highways was created.
From September, 24, 2001 N 516 the Committee of highways liquidated and by the decree of the President of Belarus created the department of " Belavtodor " with the right of the legal person. The Ministry of Transport and Communications carries out united road and transport policy irrespective to a type of transport.
From May, 5, 2006 N 289 by the decree of the President of Belarus the State Committee of Aviation was included to the structure of the formed Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus and the Belarusian Railway was subordinated to the Mintrans.
